Lets talk Life Planners!

So my daughter went to college this year and in doing so she also purchased a life planner, now at first I thought “how crazy to buy a life planner online when you can go and get one from the store so much cheaper”. Well, the planner came right before she moved away to the dorm and I had the chance to look at it a little closer. I realized that “yes” it was worth the money and it was a very useful tool as well.

I purchased my own Life Planner and I purchased from Erin Condren, there are things I like and things I don’t like about Erin Condren and I will go over both with you in a minute. (Insert rave review here: I love this planner because it works good for my family life, work life and crafty life)

First here is a look at the Planer I chose.

Things I like and love about this planner:
It has everything. I have a normal monthly view and I have my weekly views as well. Now I know a lot of people out there love to decorate their Erin Condren Life Planners, I gave it a shot as you can see but I am not to sure I can keep up with this decorating thing with my schedule. We will have to see.

Things I like:
• I like the many different way to personalize these planners, like your name, or phrase.
• I like that they give you stickers in the back of the planner for special dates or personalize your own stickers from them (your choice).
• I like that they give you a plastic zipper pocket for items that need safe keeping, and in that pocket they send you personalized stickers to match the planner you picked out.
• I like the Perpetual calendar and contacts book they send with the planner so you can add birthdays and anniversary’s in it and never miss adding those to the next years calendar
• I like the little spiral paperclips they send
• I like the “Keep it together” pocket folder at the back of the planner
• I LOVE all of the many different quotes throughout the planner and they way they make each quote stand out.
• I love like that the cover is interchangeable and the book mark moves as you do.

Things I don’t like:
• I hate their customer service
• I hate there is no working phone line to call to get answers
• I hate that when you pay for over night shipping, you DON’T get over night shipping
• I hate that when you send and email or suggestion you get an automated response

So in short, will I get another Planner next year? Yes I will, and I will most likely get another Erin Condren. What did I learn from my ordering experience? Order in November of this year, Do Not pay overnight shipping and Hope I get it by January 1st of next year!

Beautiful Jewelry, beautiful friend

Last night when I arrived home from work, I was pleasantly surprised to find a package in the mail. It was from a friend of mine that I have recently become somewhat close to and someone I hope to call my friend for many years to come.

In this package were two amazing pieces of jewelry. I was expecting one for sure but the second one was a pleasant surprise. When I originally set eyes the jewelry she was making I of course loved the San Francisco 49ers bracelet and I wanted to place an order but she and her husband wouldn’t let me pay for it. Now, you have to understand she doesn’t work for free by any means but her husband happens to be childhood friends with my husband and this being the case I wasn’t allowed to pay for her work.

That being said, while I was expecting the 49ers bracelet I was not expecting the charm bracelet. What she did to make the charm bracelet took a lot of thought and care. She got it perfect! It has three kids on it, three birthstones on it, an autism puzzle piece, a football, an awareness ribbon, a heart of love and half of a best friend heart. (Secretly hoping she has the other end)
This bracelet is amazing and the work she does to make these bracelets is equally amazing.

You can see more of her work at Marcia’s Handcrafted Bead Designs. You just might find the perfect gift that can be personalized just for you!

Adoption day!

Yesterday my husband adopted my oldest daughter Olivia.. This has been such a long time coming. My husband Chris has wanted to adopt my daughter for many many years. He loves her and cares for her so much, he has supported her and encourages her to do great things and to become the woman she is today.
I thank God for bringing this amazing man into our lives. Since the day he met my daughter he has always seen her as his own and he has never turned away from her. He has never overstepped his bounds in the years of battles fought for her and her needs. He has only been there for her. He has never put her down or put our other children ahead of her, he has always treated all three of our children equally because he loves them all so very much.

Adoption day 01/22/2015 We love you baby girl.

A Dad is patient, helpful, and strong
He is there by your side when things go wrong
He’s someone who guides you to do the right thing
And helps you solve problems that life sometimes brings

A Dad is someone who is loving and kind
And usually knows what’s going on in your mind
He is someone who listens and makes time to talk
When things are bad he doesn’t turn around and walk

He is a strong shoulder when times are tough
And still loves you dearly when he’s had enough
He helps you and guides you all that he can,
Wanting nothing more than to make you understand

A Dad’s there when you’re happy and even more when you’re sad
Giving unconditional love whether you’re good or you’re bad
A Dad is someone that you can also call a friend
Who is there no matter what and will be till the end

They say that blood is thicker than water
But I know this isn’t true
Because my child couldn’t ask for a better Dad
Than one she has found in you♥

My Best friend, My Daughter

If you have read my about page you would see I have 3 wonderful children. I am proud of each of them and each one of them is unique and talented in their own right. What you also might have seen is that my oldest daughter (Olivia) is one of my very best friends. She has been there for me through so much in my life and she has grown into an amazing adult.

She started her first semester in college this month and has only been gone for one and a half weeks but I already miss her.

Well, I am excited to announce that my Best friend is coming home tonight for a lovely visit and I can’t wait. I already have the evening planned out for us.

Dinner, A little shopping, and then our usual Supernatural and American Horror Story to watch!
Her little sister has already made it very clear that she is spending the night with Olivia and there will be no saying no to that… (Little bugger sure is set in her ways)

I better get off here and get some things done so I can get home to see her, I am sure she will be there when I get home 🙂

Girl Scout Swaps!

My youngest joined Girl Scouts this year and she is very excited for what is to come. We spent some time together this weekend making Swaps. These little things/pins will be used to hand out to other girl scouts next weekend at a day camp Alyssa gets to attend. Swaps are made by each girl and at the end of the day you get to come home with something from everyone.

She is excited and a little apprehensive because I will not be with her and this will be a new experience for her. I am excited for her and I know we will both be a little nervous in the end but I am sure everything will go just fine.

Weekend for me!

This weekend was eventful and relaxing. I was super absorbed in making it mine and I did just that. Saturday I woke and was ready for the day, I got my little one dressed and forced the hubby to also get his man clothes on and traveled to IKEA.. Yup its one of my favorite stores.. So anyways We went for a light and came out with a light and a chair. See below:

Yes that is the chair.. Now this chair must be something pretty special since I bought it. It fits perfect in the space I had to fill and it is so comfortable to sit in that I have now dubbed it my NEW crochet chair.. More of less it is my corner. Well this is what I thought anyways. If you look at this picture you will see that my dog “Buddy” has positioned himself right in the middle of MY very comfortable chair. He seems to really like it right? Boy is he mistaken.. Yes, yes he can sit in it when I am not in it I don’t have a problem with that at all but if he thinks this is his chair he has another thing coming..

SO on to the next dilemma, See below:

There it is, my chair in its nice little corner space waiting for me to have my yarn basket organized so I can move on over and sit in it… Oh no,, not the case again, as you can see “Alyssa” seems to have taken it over. She even put a pillow in it so she can maneuver herself just right so she can see the TV at the right angle. Well this just wont do. Now I must sit back and think of ways to make the chair unwanted by both the dog and my little girl so I can assure that It will always be available to ME! Any ideas are much appreciated and I wont judge if you don’t!

I also did in fact enjoy time watching Downton Abbey and I made it to the end of the second season. I do really like the show and even set the DVR to record season five so I can catch up when I get to that point. While enjoying my new series I worked on the child’s blanket and find myself ending the weekend at 1/3 finished. Very exciting.

Long week….

Its been a long week at my house and I have had zero time to work on my projects. Here is a run down of what has gone on in my life this week.

We had an IEP meeting for my youngest daughter on Monday, It went well I think and I am pleased with her progress and success in school. There will be a few changes to her IEP but they are good changes and I am excited to see how well it all works out in the end.

Alyssa had her first piano lesson and loved it and then also had her Girl Scouts this week! (can’t wait for those cookies)

We moved my oldest daughter into her college dorm this week. She is going to college for a 4 year degree in Law Enforcement and I couldn’t be more proud of her. The stress of the move was a little over whelming but I feel it went very well and we only missed a few items which she will take with her Sunday when she goes back. The driving to and from the college was a little rough since we are having some really bad weather these days, as in its extremely cold outside (around -30 degrees) and during the trip down and back the wind was horrible so there were more than 500 accidents on the roads that day in the Twin Cities.

With the weather being as it is right now we had Olivia take my husbands Dodge Durango to her weekend Drill. Did I mention Olivia is the Army National Guard? Yes I am blessed with an amazing kid! So with her move into college and then this weekend being a weekend for Drill she is very busy and going to be rushing Sunday just to get herself back to campus and ready for the first day of college on Monday.

WOW, I can’t believe my baby is not a baby anymore..

Jordan got to move into a bigger room this week. Its is of course all decked out in Chicago Bears stuff and he loves it. He is back to his regular schedule in Tae Kwon Do now that the Holidays are over and things are going very well for him.

So with all of my running, moving and cleaning. I will be relaxing this weekend with a new Series (Downton Abbey) I have not every seen it, but have heard good things about and I will be working on a blanket. I am excited and cant wait to just sit and enjoy my down time.
